Year after year, Vertical Montserrat surpasses itself, also in terms of fundraising. We are very excited to share with you the final amount raised thanks to all of you: €18,005 that will be allocated to the Bombers Amb Causa 2025 project! The amount raised by the solidarity calendar the Esparreguera FestaVal and all solidarity initiatives taking place throughout the year will also be added.
The amount raised will be used to finance the Bombers amb Causa research scholarship, which is awarded through a competition between researchers at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, and for social projects to care for children at risk of social exclusion at various centers in Sant Joan de Deu of Catalunya.
This record has been possible thanks to the increase in contributions in the Open category, greater participation of Firefighters, and the commitment of the participating teams in the most supportive category, We Are One Team, where 22 couples have climbed the 2,180 steps with the goal to raise €500. Some have even surpassed it!
The first SUE team from a hiking association, 4000 Peus, and a sports club, Invictus Workout, participated in this sixth edition. It is also worth highlighting that by racing, the 4 SUE Off Diabetes teams wanted to raise awareness about this disease and the Escola Cooperativa el Puig. Companies such as Grup JANÉ, Skis Rossignol, Cilsa (ZALPort) and ERMS Grupo o Larsa Montserrat have participated for the first time and companies such as Educa Borras Group, Aigües de Barcelona (2 teams), Unitex, FGC (2 teams), Aeri de Montserrat and Airbox have joined us once again in this edition.
On May 25, 2024, almost 250 athletes climbed the 2,180 solidarity steps of the Vertical Montserrat, for the children at risk cared for in Sant Joan de Déu. This solidarity race is organized by Bombers de la Generalitat de Catalunya in collaboration with the Obra social of Sant Joan de Déu and has the support of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Abbey of Montserrat and the Patronat de la Muntanya de Montserrat.
