Solidarity, what gives it meaning

The Vertical Montserrat is a solidarity initiative of Bombers de la Generalitat that is part of the Bombers amb Causa solidarity project. Bombers amb Causa was born with a solidarity calendar in 2011, as a result of the initiative of three volunteers from the Generalitat Firefighters Corps who had a clear objective: to obtain funds for research into childhood diseases. For this reason, they contacted the Obra Social de Sant Joan de Déu and, with the complicity of the different fire stations, they developed this project.

The funds raised since 2011 have allowed the creation of the Bombers amb Causa research scholarship, which is awarded through a competition among researchers at the SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital.

Inclusion in sports

Another cause that we address with Vertical Montserrat is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities or at risk of exclusion through sport, both in the sporting and organizational aspects.

For its work in favor of inclusion in sports, it has been honored in the first edition of the Premis Inclusius de l’Esport Català, awarded by the Onat Foundation with the support of the Secretary of Sports and Physical Activities of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

44 athletes with various disabilities have participated:

▪ Visual
▪ Auditory
▪ Intellectual
▪ Physical

Two of them went down a section of the route on a wheelchair.
