In a special edition, celebrating the millennium of the Monastery foundation, Vertical Montserrat has achieved the highest fundraising total across all seven editions of the race.
Thanks to each and every one of you, €30,545.15 will go to the Bombers Amb Causa 2026 project! In addition, this amount will be added to funds raised through the solidarity calendar, the FestaVal in Esparreguera, and any other charitable initiatives that rise throughout the year.
The funds raised will help finance the Bombers amb Causa Research Scholarship, which is awarded through a competition among researchers at the Sant Joan de Deu Hospital. As well as various social projects supporting at risk children across several Sant Joan de Déu centers in Catalonia.

On May 24th, 2025 around 330 athletes climbed the 2180 solidarity steps of Vertical Montserrat in support of at risk children cared by Sant Joan de Deu. The charity race organized by Bombers de la Generalitat de Catalunya in partnership with Obra Social de Sant Joan de Déu and supported by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Montserrat Abbey, and the Patronat de la Muntanya de Montserrat.
This year the race introduced an exciting new category: Millennium. With an exclusive route and a 1000 meter elevation gain, this category paid tribute to the millennium anniversary of the foundation of the Montserrat Monastery.
This fundraising record was made possible thanks to the introduction of the Millennium category, the increased contributions in the Open category, higher participation from firefighters, and the commitment of the teams We are a Team (Som Un Equip) category. A total of 26 teams completed the 2180 steps with a prior goal of raising €500. Some even surpassed their fundraising target! We’d like to highlight the continued commitment of Off Diabetes, which participated with 5 teams in the Som Un Equip category from various parts of Spain.
L’edició del 2025 s’ha superat també en participació a la categoria ‘Inclusiva’ amb 11 esportistes. Una altra gran fita per afavorir la inclusió de les persones amb discapacitat o en risc d’exclusió a través de l’esport.
The 2025 edition also saw an increase in participation in the Inclusive category, with 11 athletes. This was another major step forward in promoting inclusion for people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion through sport.
We’d also like to thank the financial support of Inaccés Geotecnica Vertical, ERMS, Good Bio and Airbox as sponsors, as well as the other collaborations including Creu Roja de Catalunya, Federacio d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), Aeri de Montserrat, Bombers de Barcelona, Ajuntament de Collbató, Blancafort Infermers, Jorba Forn de Pa, Supermercats Llobet, Grafreak, Pixelxen, Optimus Ferreteria Monistrol, and Xarxa + Comunicació Local, which once again provided live coverage of the solidarity race.
We were also joined by ambassador, journalist Xavier Grasset, who helped spread the word even further about this wonderful cause!
Thanks to all of you, the children and families supported by Sant Joan de Déu can receive better treatments, fight their illnesses, and build a future full of opportunities. We’ll see you again in the 2026 edition!
